Birth of RE/MAX Quality Realty

RE/MAX Quality Realty is part of RE/MAX Of Central Ohio region. The region is the Northern 2/3 of the State of Ohio. Geoffrey Hill is the regional director whose motto is, "Free your mind, dare to dream." Here is what Geoff has to say about RE/MAX Quality Realty:

"Dale & Ellen Coffman have been associated with the RE/MAX organization since they opened their office in 1994. During their years of association with RE/MAX, their integrity, creativity, and commitment to quality have earned them respect and admiration throughout the RE/MAX organization.

In addition to building two fine RE/MAX offices, Dale & Ellen consistently "give back" to the communities in which they live and work. They serve as advisors to a local high school drill team, serve as members and directors of their local board of Realtors, and sponsor local community events such as "Rock on the Dock" in Sandusky. In recognition of the leadership and service which Dale & Ellen provide to their customers, communities, and the RE/MAX organization, RE/MAX of Central Ohio was proud to present Dale & Ellen with the 1998 Spirit Award.

RE/MAX Quality Realty was co-founded by Dale & Ellen Coffman in January of 1994. They were in search of the highest level of professionalism, ethics and education that a real estate company could offer. Their ideas on how a real estate company should be, were closely paralleled to the RE/MAX System. It was a natural choice for them to join the RE/MAX family. Here is how the story goes:

After many years with a traditional office Dale & Ellen decided it was time for a change and decided to go into business for themselves with RE/MAX. RE/MAX Quality Realty was named by Ellen. She was searching for a name that would indicate to the public the highest level of quality and service they could receive. The choice was obvious. In 1993 they met John Gaston, a franchise sales representative of RE/MAX of Central Ohio and purchased their franchise for Sandusky, Ohio in July beginning the task of building a top notched office from the ground up. Every detail was considered from the equipment and furniture to the coffee cups.

Dale went to Denver, CO. in August of 1993 for management training and Ellen was back to college to finish her education for her brokers license.

On January 10, 1994 their dream became a reality. RE/MAX Quality Realty opened for business.

Ellen & Dale decided to purchase a second franchise for an office in Norwalk, Ohio and opened soon after. Eighteen months after the Sandusky, Ohio office had opened, the Norwalk branch office opened.

Since then RE/MAX Quality Realty continues to service both markets and has received numerous awards. These awards include the highest average transactions per associate in Norwalk for 1997, and 1998 along with the highest average volume per associate 1997.

Dale & Ellen Coffman received the Spirit Award for Norwalk and Sandusky offices in 1998. And Broker/Owners in Small Markets for RE/MAX Of Central and Northern Ohio in 2003

Dale & Ellen Coffman's philosophy towards their agents is, "They are our customers." Their philosophy towards their buyers and sellers is, "Everyone is entitled to the highest level of real estate services no matter what."

RE/MAX Quality Realty is hard at work in the communities of Norwalk and Sandusky. They have donated to Children's Miracle Network, Help Mates of VOA, Sandusky St. Mary's Schools, Perkins Schools, Sandusky Schools, Margaretta Schools, Monroeville Schools, Fireland Schools, Norwalk St. Paul, Norwalk Fair, Erie County Fair, Memorial Walk Way, Rock on the Dock, and many more. They feel if you take from society you need to put back in. They also achieve Premiere Market Presents (PMP) by their billboard advertising, cable TV advertising and RE/MAX Quality Realty race car.

One of the fastest growing sports today is car racing. RE/MAX International and RE/MAX Quality Realty are part of it. RE/MAX International competes on the NASCAR circuit with two cars and one truck in the Craftmans truck series. RE/MAX Quality Realty is no different. They have sponsored a late model Firebird driven by Robin Lang for 3 years. It races primarily at Sandusky Speedway. The kids really enjoy having their pictures taken in the car.

A company image seven stories tall. Multiply that times almost 90 and you have the largest corporate fleet of hot air balloons in the world. At first across North America and now increasingly around the globe the red, white and blue balloons emblazoned with the RE/MAX name participate in balloon meets, highlight charitable and business promotions, and drift above athletic events. The size of the actual fleet continues to grow, images of the tricolor RE/MAX Balloon logo multiply through every visual form of advertising and promotion. The RE/MAX Balloon, its logo form, and the accompanying "Above the Crowd!" slogan are all increasingly equated in the public mind with RE/MAX itself. But what does a balloon have to do with real estate?

The First Re/Max Balloon

The corporate logo was a red, white and blue "Sold" sign when New Mexico Regional Directors invested in a hot air balloon for advertising and flew it at the 1978 Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. The marketing vehicle was made of the same three colors as the "Sold" sign logo and also featured the RE/MAX ground crew who wore jackets with patches that read, "Above the Crowd!"

Hearing that the RE/MAX Balloon had spread the company name throughout the Albuquerque Realtor community, RE/MAX executives were immediately interested in the innovative marketing tool. At that time, RE/MAX was the No.1 real estate firm in Denver, but its name recognition ranked eighth in the area. The next year, the home office purchased its own balloon and featured it in a commercial that raised RE/MAX name recognition to the top spot in the Denver area. The company's ad agency enthusiastically recommended that RE/MAX use the balloon as its corporate logo.

The executives adopted the new logo and slogan, feeling they embodied the ideals of the organization.

Premier Market Presence

The January 1998 issue of Entrepreneur magazine named RE/MAX the fastest-growing real estate franchise. The most rapidly expanding network in South Africa and the largest in the Caribbean, RE/MAX is also becoming a force in global real estate. All this production and growth move the RE/MAX International network ever closer to its goal, Premier Market Presence (PMP).

In 1997, RE/MAX grew by 3,468 Sales Associates, 38 more agents than were in the entire network at the beginning of its 10th year business. Driven by 24 years of development, last year's growth translates in additional transactions and an ever-increasing RE/MAX market share.

RE/MAX supports CMN hospitals throughout North America, RE/MAX Affiliates continue to build strong, local community presence. At the same time, all the local efforts combine to build an international image of good citizenship.

During the 1997 CMN Annual Broadcast, in Orlando, Fla., RE/MAX presented a check for $3.5 million, increasing its six-year fundraising total to $14.4 million.
